Cubify 3D Printer (Pics + Video)

WARNING: There will be a lot of Neon Green in this post.

I've been out of the Blogging game for a long time.  Haven't posted here in a while but now I come back with a bang, and by bang I really mean, the new Cubify 3D Printer by 3D Systems.  All the parts shown here are neon green because it is the color that the printer comes with, and I wanted to use it for testing.  Secondly, all the parts printed are original designs made in SolidWorks 2012 (except the skull, which I downloaded in STL format from GrabCad).

My "In Progress Picture" addiction started with this picture.

3D Controllers in Marvel's The Avengers

So I went to see The Avengers the other day and caught a scene where they are in the mothership, and are entering the control bridge.  They show several 'operators' in their stations and as it pans across two stations in particular, you can get a glimpse of at least 1 of 3Dconnexion's offerings.

Subwoofer Box Design Chronicles

the culprit(s) this time: a pair of 15W0v3-4 from JL Audio

I have touched lightly on the topic of Box Builds before.  Being a lifelong musician/audiophile has its advantages and disadvantages. In my case it has been an ongoing and seemingly insatiable addiction to upgrading my sound systems in order to 'get more' out of my music.  At times the boxes have been ridiculous, at times they were cut and assembled by TJ down by the trailer park, but at the end they have all been a learning experience in sound dynamics.

Here I bring you my latest creation, starting with a simple CAD file which incorporates a few geometry constraints all the way to a finished product, with all parameters met, and installed in the intended vehicle.

5-way Terminal Cup for Subwoofer Builds (by JL Audio)

I purchased it to use on one of my boxes but then removed it when designing a new box.  Ultimately ended up taking apart the terminal assembly and measuring the parts in order to draw them more accurately.

Quirky Cordlets leave me hanging...

So I bought these at OfficeMax cause they looked cool.  They all ended up falling off the glue pad that it comes with.  I tried re-sticking them but they kept falling.  In the span of 24 hours 3 of the pads managed to fail.
