Mechanical Motions

So tonight I started working on a new project.  Anyways, started out doing some research into the motions that the product will need and so far looks like I have found all of them.

The first two are alternatives for the same motion.  My design will probably use something closer to C8.

My 3DCC Aerospace Library

This is a short blog post to point out a medium-sized parts repository I populated during my time in the Aerospace field.  Most of the parts are Hardware for Mechanical Installations and are located over on the 3D Content Central website.

A lot of the hardware is purpose-built using MIL Specs as reference.  In some cases, the actual hardware was measured and reverse engineered into the 3D model.

Popped my GrabCad cherry this week

I registered for the site a few months ago when it first opened up.  I threw up my company profile (along with a proper W gang sign) and pretty much forgot about it.   The site was just starting out and I probably should have also uploaded some work up there.  I have no solid excuse but like all things in life, the timing just wasn't right.

4G Nano Car Jacket by Zsolti Szabo

Here's a concept for the 4G iPod Nano designed by the Industrial Designer formerly known as Rob Szabo.  Basic shape by the Zsolto and final tweaks by moi.   This one is from 2009, it lays in the 'short lived hopes and dreams' bin.

Building a Simple Car with Surfaces in SolidWorks Youtube Video

This is my second Car Video on Youtube.

767 Aircraft in SolidWorks 2011

I'm gonna get flamed really good for this one.  An awful model with exaggerated features such as missiles, external fuel tanks and gunner pods...  and horrible music to tie it all in together.  This isn't gonna end up good.

Check out the video after the break.

Rims, Rims and More Rims...

In this blog post we will look at a couple of rims I have modeled over the years.  Now keep in mind these rims are purely cosmetical.  They are 'quick and dirty' renditions of whatever pattern I had in my head at the time. Usually modeled during down time at work, or while trying to kill a few hours, who knows...

Obviously these rims are not compliant with Tire and Rim Yearbook specs so you have been forewarned, this is all for show.

Building a Toy Car in SolidWorks 2010 Youtube Video

According to my favorite computational engine, it been a little over 8 months since I posted this video on my youtube channel.  It is my first solidworks-related video and as you can see, I chose a minimalist route both work wise and video wise.

I will go ahead and call myself a Bum for being so lazy and just making an extrude for the body.  I received a bit of criticism regarding that bit by a few so for my next car video I made some upgrades.  We will talk about those at a later time but for now let's see this toy concept after the break.

Akira-Inspired 3 Wheeled Motorcycle Concept

Sometimes a movie comes along that really affects the way we think.  This movie may not come in the form of a flashy and expensive action flick but in this case came in the form of a cult classic from the 80's.  Ironically, Akira was a movie with a relatively humongous budget in comparison to similar movies of its time.  So while the movie was in fact 'expensive' it came across a vast ocean, and across an entire continent before it was played on my humble abode's VCR.
